Nui Project 2: Nui (Stitches)
This rich visual catalogue of outsider art features works by students of the Kobo Shobu creative art program at Shobu Gakuen, a facility for creative people with developmental disabilities. Through the Nui Project, the extraordinary talents of these individuals have become a powerful stimulus to art and creation of new textiles. Every aspect of both mental and physical activity, psychology and action, is designed to support self-expression through the empathy and unconscious collaboration embodied in works produced by individuals working "one stitch at a time."
Edited by Kobo Shobu; translated by Ruth S. McCreery; published in Japan by Etsuko Fukumori (2007). 30 x 30cm (11.75 x 11.75in); 62 pages; full color images; English and Japanese text.
